Key Largo feels different the moment
you arrive - it is the gateway and most visited tropical
island of the spectacular Florida Keys. Key Largo is also known as the “Dive Capital
of the World.” Getting on or under the water is what makes a trip
to Key Largo worthwhile. Our Key Largo rental boats come fully
equipped with the electronics you will need to navigate
to the best diving locations (we will even point a few
of the best dive spots for you). For divers, your own
rental boat will get you more down time and less of
the "cattle-car" experience you can get with some of the
local dive shops and with 3 or 4 divers in your roomy
rental boat, a cost-savings as well.
There is plenty to do and see in Key Largo - John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park has
two beaches and a replica of a shipwreck in the water that is great
for snorkeling. You can take a glass-bottom boat ride over part of
the reef, or use our rental boats for a snorkeling tour along the
reef that extends all along the Florida Keys.
The waters surrounding Key Largo
are teeming with game fish. Try going after the big ones offshore with
one of our fully-equipped rental fishing boats , or fish with
one of our specialized back-country rental boats in the
shallow waters of Florida Bay or the Everglades. We even have
well-maintained fishing poles and baits available at a
low cost and we can provide you with guides experienced
in the local fishing strategies, offshore and
back-country.
More to do in Key Largo? Key Largo Hammocks State
Botanical site, with its unusual plants and wildlife, is one of the
best places on the island for a sheltered bike ride. Birdwatchers
won’t be disappointed. The island’s beauty has attracted a large
number of artists whose work is displayed at local galleries. Other
shops, bars, restaurants and accommodations are as varied as they
are plentiful. With only a few exceptions, everything in the Keys
tends to be casual, in dress, service and food. The tropical
paradise of Key Largo is only 56 miles south of Miami International
Airport, but feels a world away.
