Are there restrictions on renting boats?
Several - you must be at least 25 years
old or have a Safe Boating Class certificate for ages 21 - 25.
If you have not had any experience with operating a boat, we
recommend you hire a guide (we can provide one for you). The
Florida Keys waters are shallow with channels for entering deep
water, you must know basic boating rules, how to read the
channel markers and the water to avoid damaging the boats. You
pay for damages, so the ability to handle a boat is important.
We can provide refresher lessons; 1/2 hour lessons are only $50.
Do you provide charts and electronics such as fish finders,
GPS and marine radios?
Our center-console boats have all this equipment, shallow-water (flats boats) will not have
fish-finders. We also include the basics required for safety - life vests, etc.
Can I keep a boat at my vacation rental
or resort dock?
Absolutely, multi-day and weekly rentals are
available, delivery charges may apply according to how far away
your rental unit is from our Islamorada and Key Largo rental
centers.
Is there any special knowledge I need to know
about boating in the Keys?
Between the marine patrols and sheriff's
office patrols - if you are driving a boat under the influence (BUI)
- there are stiff fines and penalties. You should also refresh your
knowledge of the rules of right of way and marine signs and markers
- there are a lot of busy channels.
